Metanoia Counseling Services
Specialized Therapy for Children, Teens, Young Adults, and Families
Helping neurodivergent and emotionally sensitive young people build confidence, connection, emotional regulation, and a stronger sense of self.
Metanoia Counseling Services provides warm, collaborative therapy for children, adolescents, young adults, and families navigating ADHD, Autism Level 1, anxiety, emotional regulation struggles, social challenges, school stress, and family conflict.
Here, therapy is not about blaming children or overwhelming parents with generic advice. It is about understanding what is happening underneath the behavior, building practical skills, strengthening family connection, and helping young people learn how to move through life with more confidence and support.

You Are Not Alone
When Your Child Is Struggling, the Whole Family Feels It
You may be here because your child is bright, creative, funny, sensitive, intense, or deeply thoughtful — and still struggling in ways that are hard to understand.
Maybe your child melts down over transitions, avoids schoolwork, argues constantly, feels rejected by peers, becomes overwhelmed by big feelings, or seems stuck in patterns that do not respond to typical parenting strategies.
Maybe your teen seems distant, anxious, reactive, shut down, or convinced that no one understands them.
Maybe you have tried reward charts, consequences, reassurance, lectures, reminders, and every strategy you could think of — and you still feel like you are missing something.
You are not alone. And your child is not broken.
Often, what looks like defiance, laziness, overreaction, disrespect, or avoidance is connected to lagging skills, nervous system overwhelm, anxiety, executive functioning challenges, social confusion, sensory sensitivity, or shame.
Therapy can help make sense of the pattern and create a more compassionate, structured path forward.
Families often come to Metanoia when a child or teen is struggling with:
- ADHD symptoms and executive functioning challenges
- Autism Level 1 or suspected neurodivergence
- Anxiety, worry, rumination, or avoidance
- Emotional outbursts or shutdowns
- Social difficulty or feeling different from peers
- School stress, task initiation, or motivation struggles
- Parent-child conflict
- Sibling conflict
- Rigid thinking or difficulty moving on from perceived wrongs
- Low confidence or negative self-talk
- Difficulty using coping skills in the moment
- Family exhaustion from trying so hard for so long
Our Approach
A Different Kind of Therapy Experience
Neurodivergent-informed care
Children and teens with ADHD, Autism Level 1, anxiety, and executive functioning differences often need more than traditional talk therapy. They need support that recognizes how their brains, bodies, emotions, and environments interact. Therapy at Metanoia is designed to help young people understand themselves while building practical tools for daily life.
Parent collaboration without parent blame
Parents are not treated as the problem. Parents are treated as essential partners. When children struggle, parents often need support, language, perspective, and strategies that match their child’s actual needs. Therapy includes parent collaboration because children do best when the adults around them understand what is happening and how to respond.
Practical tools with emotional depth
The work is both skills-based and relational. Sessions may include emotional identification, coping skills, CBT-informed strategies, ACT-informed values work, executive functioning support, social problem-solving, family communication, trauma-informed care, and developmentally appropriate insight-building.
Respect for the whole story
Metanoia means transformation, renewal, and a change in how we understand ourselves and our lives. Therapy helps children, teens, and families examine the stories they have been carrying — stories about being “too much,” “not enough,” “always in trouble,” or “impossible to help” — and begin building new stories rooted in truth, hope, responsibility, and connection.
